A computer cafe will be opening at Pershore to help older people gain confidence when using technology.

Age UK has collaborated with Pershore Library, situated on Church Street, to set these sessions up and help people who need some guidance using computers, laptops, tablets or mobile phones.

The sessions will launch on Friday, June 10 and will take place weekly from 9.30 – 11.30am.

A spokesperson from the computer cafe said: “Many older people lack the confidence to make use of computers, laptops, tablets or mobile phones.

“During the covid pandemic, more organisations including banks, councils, utility suppliers, retailers and government have made it difficult to get information or carry out routine tasks without going online.

“Social media can be a great way to keep in touch with friends and family, yet also requires confidence to use them for the first time.

“Sessions will be run every Friday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am starting from 10th June in Pershore Library.

“There will be tea and coffee available and we are asking for a suggested donation of £2 per session.

“The library space is fully accessible.

“Bring your laptop, tablet or phone along or there are a limited number of fixed library computers available.”
